Finding this book incredibly frustrating. Seriously how hard would it be to just write out the FAQs for newbies? Except without the plot device of Thomas asking questions and people refusing to answer them, the first half of this book wouldn't exist.

Also little bit of Philip K Dick's "Second Variety".

Book continues to be excellent.

You might get something like this if Kafka wrote Remains of the Day about robots. So far I love it.

Oh god it's getting worse XD the narration now has both exclamation marks AND italics. Reilly would like you to know this part is very exciting and/or surprising!

How dumb does Matthew Reilly think his readers are that they need exclamation marks in the narration of a dragon attack XD

It's easy to see why Philip K Dick has inspired so many films, his short stories are fantastic. I think my favourite in this lot so far is "Explorers We".

Ok things are still a bit cringy when there's girls involved (Wizard: "I'm telling Geralt about a mutant girl, let's see... what details will he need... better make some reference to her knockers just in case.") BUT aside from that I quite like it so far.

Oh no. Is it a bad sign if you knew halfway through the first page that this book was DEFINITELY gonna be on the "men writing women" sub?

Strange book so far - random trivia on the personal lives of 17th century archaeologists seem to take up a great deal more space than their actual discoveries.

Ohhhhh. Had to do some research to work out what this was doing on my Kindle. It's by Jenny Trout, who did the fantastic 50 Shades recaps.

I'm pretty squicked out by "He'd been 42, super duper old by my naive 18-year-old standards". I'm only at 4% so I'm gonna pretend I didn't read that and give it a bit longer, but gross, Jen. Gross.

I still hate the main character, he's still a selfish twat, and there have still been no surprises. Literally mouthing along with the dialogue at times, that's how surprising this book is. Ugh. Finishing out of sheer stubbornness at this point. If there's a surprise coming I hope it happens before I get a tension headache from rolling my eyes too hard.

I'm having a hard time continuing. I hate the main character, he's a selfish asshole. So far the story is pretty ordinary but the reviews assure me it is not as simple as it appears to be. Avoiding spoilers, I'm gonna have to trust them on that I guess. Persevering for now.
