I'm having a hard time continuing. I hate the main character, he's a selfish asshole. So far the story is pretty ordinary but the reviews assure me it is not as simple as it appears to be. Avoiding spoilers, I'm gonna have to trust them on that I guess. Persevering for now.

I still hate the main character, he's still a selfish twat, and there have still been no surprises. Literally mouthing along with the dialogue at times, that's how surprising this book is. Ugh. Finishing out of sheer stubbornness at this point. If there's a surprise coming I hope it happens before I get a tension headache from rolling my eyes too hard.
