Look like I will have to stop reading this as I will never finish this in time to return it to the library so looks like I’m buying this one after all . UGH

I am so glad I started my year with this as my first work of fiction. This is not a book to breeze through but one to savor . Franzen’s writing is too thought provoking to do so. I’m sad I only have about 400 pages left because these characters are ones I’d like to know forever .

Ok so it’s getting really good again and then Caroline starts comparing her keeping her research from her husband to his infidelity … come on !!!
She went on an adventure !

I was absolutely loving this until the present day character’s dumb ass marriage problems are starting to take away from the apothecary mystery. I hope it gets back on track because I will have to abandon ship.

Ehh. It’s no Daisy Jones and the Six but it’s a quick and fun read. Her books usually get better as you get further in so I’m hoping that’s the case.
