Very interesting. Dark, of course. Glad I'm reading it.

Very good read so far. I've read Helter Skelter multiple times & I'm learning things about Manson & his Family that I hadn't read before.

re-reading. Great book.

Re-reading this collection of short stories. Remember most of what I'm re-reading. An early standout is 'The End of the Whole Mess'. I don't know which SK does better...the short story or the 1400+ page novel.

I think I read this years ago. Snagged if off a library shelf a couple weeks ago. Taking it for another spin.

Was more than halfway through. Bergen-Belsen was just liberated. Set aside. Plan to pick it up again.

I vaguely remember reading this when I first discovered Stephen King, but not specifically. Gonna give it a go / re-read.

It's just okay. A little bit predictable. The character development is okay. I'm enjoying the setting descriptions.

Evacuating Pripyat...

Very interesting, but this first half of the book has been a bit slow. It’s starting to pick up a bit. I think the pace will pick up some more as they go to Guyana.

Sadly setting aside. I had a hard time getting into it. In my opinion, it is written choppily. For instance, the author will be talking about factors leading up to the invasion & then all the sudden be talking about bios of generals. The author also assumes the reader knows what certain Russian words mean...I had to look up a couple things: the word for communal apartments & 'dascha' (sp?): a sort of holiday home.

I do have an interest in Russian history particularly Revolutionary Russia, WWII, & gulags. This author, so far...in my opinion, jumps around quite a bit regarding topics of discussion and people of interest. And he also will throw in a Russian word here and there expecting I'll know what it means (yay for Google). But I am getting some general background knowledge. I'll keep reading.

Even though I'm familiar with much of the information presented in this book, I am finding it to be very informative ...well-written. Includes personal accounts from survivors & perpetrators.

Very informative. So far, much about the history & rise of anti-semitism and the SS. Definitely going to keep reading.

Great read. Holding my attention. Have to keep reading to know what happens next.

Slow start, but now it's getting more into what life was like for those exiled. So far I've learned a bit about the Decembrists & Tsar Nicholas I.
