you ever start a book and the first page knocks the breath out of your lungs?

very gripping, very eerie. i love that it excels in what i found lacking in the previous sci fi horror i read; the main character, who’s a scientist, actually sounds and thinks like a scientist. Her personality is palpable, her inner monologue rich and interesting. Oh blake crouch don’t make that face
