Struggling with this so far. I really want to like it, but it feels like an unfinished draft. There is a lot of telling not showing, things are happening at an insane pace, people are having major realizations about their sexuality just casually and then having it not mentioned again for ages (even though it is very pertinent to the story). I also do not love present tense writing.

dnf at about half. Pretty angsty. Very heavy on the sportsball, when I only like feelingsball, but that is a personal failing not a reflection on this book or this author.

I am 40 minutes into this book at they have mentioned Rhysand from ACOTAR 3 times. I don’t love an author using another author’s main viral book boyfriend to describe their book boyfriend. It’s… funny. And suuuuuuuuuper lazy.

This book is already breaking my heart.

I need help. I got to chapter 50 on 12/31/24 without knowing that it would be taken down. Does ANYONE have access to the last 20+ chapters? I’m gonna lose my mind.

I am going to absolutely strangle Jamie Burke if he doesn't get his head out of his ass soon. This is a book where dual POV is absolutely necessary because Jamie is so solidly WRONG about everything, there would be no tension if we couldn't see what a ding dong he is inside his own head. If this were a physical book, i would throw it.

I'm struggling with this one. Nudism being the main conflict is . . . difficult. The world is bad, guys. The angst over something like a nudist lifestyle (which seems stupid and not like a big deal, but then you think about it more, and it kind of IS a big deal) is making me sad.

This book is breaking my heart and also just ... hurting my feelings? Its beautiful and fun and I want to go to Spain SO BAD.

I don’t think Daddy stuff is my kink, but there is something in this pathetic, world weary jock that calls to my chronically ill, worn out mom self. God, to have someone care for you like this? Life changing. As I read, I’m finding my internal monologue following how Caleb talks to Logan, like my sweet self also deserves love and care. And that’s oddly healing?

Was not convinced this book was going to be me, but then it got INTENSE and I am into it.

I’m listening to this, and one of the readers is handling it with such gentleness, such softness, such absolute genius, that the other reader seems like an absolute monster for neglecting the source materials innate sensitivity. I’m sure he’s fine, but to come off Vel’s whispered panic attack straight into a bland, nothing account of Kai’s response I s jarring.

I just DNF'd 3 more books. This year's goal is looking less likely to be accomplished.

Can't do it. May come back to this some day, but now is not the time.

Skipped ahead and they don't get anywhere near each other until page 530. I do not have the stamina for this much internal monologue. 2 out of every 3 sentences could have been edited out. I enjoy Zapata's writing. This is too slow.

You know what my favorite trope is? Endless, unrequited yearning mistaken for loathing. But he hates me! He ducking LOVES YOU you moron. Eat that shit up with a spoon.

OB. SESSED. Diener's space books were really great, so I thought I'd try her fantasy and it is incredible. I don't know how anyone would understand what was going on without the prequel novella (thankfully included in the kindle read), but I assume it would still be a good read. Loving it.
