Lively, entertaining and absorbing. Which isn't very common for history books, so more credit for Andrew Marr. It's been an education for me.

The fist part was gripping, impressively written. I started to have doubts during part two, as the author seemed to have lost his mojo. Now in part three, it feels forced and increasingly unbelievable, and I'm not relishing reading to the end. I'm wishing I'd read a John Le Carré book instead.
