Page 268. A whole 2/3 of the way through the book before there is nary a hint of revenge.

Quite a few sentences start with And or But. One sentence fragment. Very little description or world building. Everything feels hurried and glossed over, like someone summarizing an event instead of the author painting the scene and characters with depth. "show don't tell."

Who falls in love with an actor?

I am thankful that my family loves me more than the idea of me. I never have to lie to live up to their standards.

Really don't like the character list at the beginning. Thought I was about to read a play. I'd rather learn that information from the story than try to keep names straight without meeting the characters. Started a sentence with And.

In some ways, The One has surpassed my expectations. I love seeing sides of the Elite that are still new and surprising. On the other hand, the book is dragging. While there are certainly things that need to be covered, enough to justify the third book, somehow it doesn't feel like that. I'm annoyed by the will-they-won't-they when you know they will. She's on the cover in a white dress titled "The One." Come on.

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG Last chapter. Why did I read this knowing book 3 isn't out yet?

I like that it's more than just a twist on a classic fairy tale; Cinder is it's own interpretation. But there's too much going on. There's cyborgs, magic, aliens, a plague, the Cinderella undertones. I wish Meyer had picked one or two instead of throwing everything into one story.

Good book but SO depressing. I had to start a different book in the middle.

If Brave New World and ABC's The Bachelor had an affair, The Selection would be their love child. The world Cass paints is so beautifully repulsive. I was audibly disgusted. I have a bookmark titled "Excuse him?!" Instead of Alpha through Epsilon test tube babies being pushed out of a baby-farm, people are born into a one through eight rank, one being royalty and eights being the homeless.

I want to shake Tris and be like "WTF is wrong with you? Do you have a death wish or are you an idiot?"

Well this sucks. Plus, since when do people on the good side monologue?

I liked the first three, but this narrator is just not as good. The accents keep changing, the story is slow, and just when I was over the love triangle, another love triangle formed. The Iron Knight has officially burned me out on fantasy novels for a bit. At least this is the last book I need for the year challenge.

We finally have a strong heroin with male sidekicks. The only problem is, she's a complete idiot.

"With every second the scepter got further away." Maybe you should have thought about that when you were taking your dear sweet time looking at home photos.

Geeze. This is why singers/actors/writers should not put XO or anything affectionate on auto-emails.

I've loved everything so far. I'm in nerdy girl heaven as this particular copy is narrated by Wil Wheaton. I'm somewhere in chapter 15 thinking "**** just got real." Can't stop listening as this story unfolds.

I'm super skeptical, but enough people who hated Twilight said this was pretty good, so I'm reading it for a book club.

It's not as different from the movie as everyone kept warning me it would be. I'm loving it so far.

This is a very well written book, but I absolutely hate it. I enjoy characters that aren't perfect, Stephanie Plum is a good example, but apparently I have a special rejection for bad parents. It happened with In Leah's Wake, the third Color of Magic novel by Piers Anthony, and now in Handle with Care. How can these parents be so oblivious to the damage they are inflicting on their children?

I'm on chapter 13. I'm listening to it on my MP3 player and I'm afraid I'll lose my place if I don't update Goodreads. :\ Not bad for starting it today, the one positive of going to the dentist and having to sit in the waiting room to detox from the gas.

This book defies genres. I hate it, but I can't stop listening to it because it's like watching a train wreck in slow motion. "Memoirs of a crazy person in a town of people sniffing glue might be a better title. I don't know how many times "why are you dumb" and "what is wrong with these people" has played in my head.

I hate Simmi. I cannot stand her, so I'm having trouble getting through Open Heart. While I don't like it as much as Farsighted because it changed out of first person from a blind character, it's very relatable to some teens. I'm going to have a hard time assigning a rating, so I might just leave a review.

I'm told if I read the last few pages, I HAVE TO start the next book, so I've found a good stopping point and I'm catching up on reviews. I have to say, despite the poor editing, this book intrigued me and not for the dirty parts.

Putting Fifty Shades to the sides for now. I have to be in the right mood to want a guilty pleasure book. I was when I started, but it only took 25% of the book to fulfill that mood.

I get the same uneasy feeling about this book as Twilight (though I'v never actually read the latter). The difference is that Fifty Shades of Grey is not YA, so romanticizing a potentially abusive relationship isn't as threatening to impressionable young minds. Great as fiction, not so much in real life.
