I will be completely honest. Something sparked inside me when Cyrus called Alizeh a “wicked girl” at the end of Chapter Twelve. I’m afraid I might be feeling the same unexpected heat she’s feeling— for a fictional character. Do I need to take a break from reading?

Just had to read chapter one before bed. I’m going to sleep now but I will say Kamran is an absolute lackwit. This chapter further proves he only fell for Alizeh’s looks because he knows nothing about her and switches up quite easily assuming she’s deceived him. I can clearly tell they only met like twice. He’s a piece of work for having absolutely no faith in her.

Hopefully the plot AND characterization pick up… at the moment I can’t stand Kamran and his anger issues or Alizeh and her lack of personality. I’ve heard great things about this series and I loved Shatter Me so we’ll see…

“Kamran liked horses. They did not ask questions before doing as they were told; at least not with their tongues.” Ok? Does he want a cookie or something?

This concept is quite refreshing. Chrysantha is a very intriguing heroine to follow. It’s difficult to determine whether she’s agreeable or detestable, but she’s certainly entertaining. I find myself rooting for her despite my better judgement. She deserves to reign as the sole Duchess after what she’s endured, but I look forward to the day she comes to accept Eryx as the missing piece to her puzzle.

Her heart fluttering after he added a name to his hit list (albeit the name of someone who hurt her) is… something, to say the least.
