i just love amy tan’s non fiction prose like what a perfect preface

i have to dnf i have to it’s been so long and honestly i was so bored even tho i read literally 238 pages

sighs cuz i was rooting for them

too many pages ab the little kids idc

i will say the makeup application / & choosing clothing has been reading a little wattpad-writery but u know what those were my girls growing up

i do think if her parents framed her mothers leaving this rly could’ve all been avoided. like why not say she’s a scientist of sorts who needed to go on assignment for the whales like plenty of kids have parents who sometimes leave for a long time cuz of work. not that it’s still not hard that way but it would’ve avoided the kids feeling like they were LEFT
