i do think if her parents framed her mothers leaving this rly could’ve all been avoided. like why not say she’s a scientist of sorts who needed to go on assignment for the whales like plenty of kids have parents who sometimes leave for a long time cuz of work. not that it’s still not hard that way but it would’ve avoided the kids feeling like they were LEFT
