Spoiler: Just finished chapter 1. I’m confused and unsure if this is a plot hole or if the author had intended for the mum to forget how Yayoi looked. If Yayoi’s mum travelled to the future and learned about the existence of her future daughter as well as her name, why didn’t she recognise Yayoi when they met at Cafe Donna Donna?

Honestly, this was much better than book #4.

Now that I’ve submitted my thesis draft, we’re back to reading! So glad to be back.

Picking up this book again. Going through my highlights and I found this quote I marked back in August, discussing how people are very forgiving towards men

I talked about how love was an action, an instinct, a response roused by unplanned moments and small gestures, an inconvenience in someone else’s favor.

The first chapter was very interesting. As I progress further into the book, the information gets harder to digest. I have no idea if that’s how just how the book is, or if I’m just not in the right headspace (I’m always reading this at night or during break from writing my thesis). Obviously, a book about forensic is going to be informative, but my brain is just somehow not braining.

It did, in fact, get better. You can tell that the author is growing as she struggles with her self image, heartbreak, and friendship. I like the Margaret Atwood quote in the Leamington Spa chapter.

I really want to like this, but it isn’t going well. All the author has been talking about is shagging and kissing boys.
