Knoll’s impeccable attention to detail is masterful. Seemingly insignificant lines of dialogue carry so much depth to build the characters.

Determined to finish this but I’m barely hanging on.

The omniscient narrator is so good. Listening to the audiobook as I’m driving today and the way this story is unfolding is unsettling and then right away satisfying.

The pacing of this book is incredible.

I LOVE Kevin Wilson’s books. This one just seems unlike his others and not in a great way. The characters aren’t as developed— like the story began before we knew enough about them to care. Trying to finish this but I’m not really invested.

This is what I love about books. Finding that one novel that keeps your eyes on the page, where you tell yourself you’ll put the book down after this chapter but then you just can’t stop reading. Bryn Greenwood is top 5 for me.

I am waiting for this book to redeem itself. I heard so many good things and finally bought it, and while the story is entertaining, it is equally infuriating and fairly predictable. Am I crazy to find Cyril selfish? As many opportunities as Boyne has to prove Cyril has depth, I haven’t seen it yet. I’m committed to finish this novel but I can’t imagine giving this more than 3 stars.

I'm half reading, half listening to this book and it is SO. GOOD.

This book is so slow moving, with lots of complaining about life and personal struggles. Not sure what I expected, given the storyline.
