Ch 31 // Raythe Reign

I'm putting this On Hold/DNF tentatively for now, as while I'm enjoying the story im struggling to read it due to layout. I'm a dark mode person, which sadly the sight doesn't have currently but hopefully for in the future so will keep an eye out. Also may try to grab the kindle eBooks sometime, as I think enjoy it more broken into chunks rather then long serial style.

Currently on Ch 31, reading through the Raythe Reign website. I do wish it was split up into the book chunks though or easy way to know each stopping point. As honestly while I'm enjoying, it's also long in this layout... There's a 120 odd chapters in total.

Clearly my taste in books has changed over the years, with how many dnfs I've had this year... But I've been trying out a bunch of books that have been on my tbr for years and returning to more MF reads, finding my same struggles with those.

Oof so its official I've almost DNF as many books as I've read so far this year... I am all about DNF, but not usually this many so close together. I think I'm just struggling to figure out what mood read I want and been enjoying other interests lately, so maybe I'm forcing it too much 🤷

Am I heading into a slump or simply making poor choices in books for me... I have no idea, but am very much hoping it's the latter. As I head into my 3rd DNF in the last week 😬

I'm giving up on this book, while the writing is beautiful the actual story is just so slow... And it's seems to be split into parts. The actual synopsis doesn't start till almost 200pgs from looks of it. There's a lot of build up going on, with alternating povs and the world building is beautiful it's just the characters are not gripping me enough. I'm not invested enough to continue the long haul, sorry...

DNF - Personal preference, theme I don't enjoy and didn't realize until started reading.

Saw the next Ch, "same shit, different man" I'm not suited to this book, I enjoyed the rage and fight Zetian went through in the first book. I simply can't watch her fall low again, marriage of convenience - not for me. I'll keep an eye out for the next and see how I feel another time, but no for now. I still adore the writing though! It's gorgeous, very grabbing and emotionally hitting. Just themes not for me sadly.

I am trying to be patient with this one as I know it's a very different tale/focus compared to the first, with new mc focused on alongside Zetien. His already annoying me... I adored the the previous trio and miss them all together 😔 Also I swear this was originally a duology? But now it looks to be trilogy/series, so I'm debating waiting to see reviews before continue or update about future book.

DNF - I wanted to love this, the potential is there but sadly its just not working for me.

Dnf @ ch21, Honestly I thought I was closer to the end and going to push through but I really can't do another 100pgs. There was a lot of potential here, sadly the execution left a lot to be desired and both MCs are extremely annoying in different ways.

Anyone maybe up for a buddy read sometime? If anything on the in common? I've been struggling read lately and think be fun to read with someone again as always motivates me more, enjoy discussing ☺️

The curse is broken! I managed to get an arc for a book, with a synopsis that just spoke to me and the book was perfect for me. I binged in one sitting I can't find it on Goodreads yet, but will definitely be sharing as soon as can ✨
