This book is very lol. Such a weird, unbelievable premise to base it on. Very silly

I continued on, and I think I understand what it is that’s missing. I think I’d care a lot more about the characters if I knew more about the BEFORE bit. It’s like there’s a book missing that contains all the relationship building between Kaan and Raeve, explains who Fallon is and why we should care, and lets you build blistering hatred for Arkyn and Sereme. I wish THAT book existed!!

I’m really struggling to get through this book. There’s something about it that just isn’t hitting for me.
Raeve and Kaan’s relationship, for one thing. Raeve still wont tell him anything, wont face her inner demons and they STILL haven’t had the conversation Kaan has been threatening to have since book 1.
I think i need a break and will finish this one another time

I’m sick of the “I’m going to kill Kaan” rhetoric now

Nit picky (and because I work in HR) but if Walker was back at work while recovering, he’d be on work cover! He wouldn’t have to take unpaid leave. His bosses would probably get in trouble for offering him the 2 shitty options of training or unpaid leave that leaves him in worse off position than before he got shot on the job.

I’m sick of the quest now. Time for something else to happen I think. Also Aris stumbling around and weak and scared of the dark … is starting to annoy me. And Raker is an asshole - why is she having feelings for him?

This book is definitely a bit silly. I hate instant love between main characters, but I’ve had a week from hell at work so this is what I need right now. Also my new fave genre is thriller/murder mystery romance - I’m exploring my newly found passion

I’m struggling to suspend my disbelief regarding the fact that Emery and Xander had a connection at 10 years old. They met one time at the park randomly as 10 year olds. There’s no way in hell they remember each other at 17 years old, let alone reflecting on that meeting in the park as memorable and meaningful something?! 🫠

I can already tell this is gonna be the same as the first book. None of the characters ever explore each other beyond the surface level.
Wren told cross that she found the letter from Jim about her parents and true identity, and cross just goes “don’t tell anyone” then changes the subject and that’s it? No “what’s your real name?” “Who were your parents?” “How are you feeling about it?”

Gosh wren is so frustrating. Removing her scar, then making cross clean up her mess when she killed Jayde, then getting angry at him for taking too long to do it and not linking with her.
“Cross isn’t linking with me, and it’s starting to piss me off. I know he’s busy cleaning up my mess, but I’m worried about him and worried he is pissed at me.” lol shut up

This is definitely not as good as I remember. There’s so much missing! There’s no back story, not context. Wren’s greatest enemy (Cross’ dad) isn’t in it except for a brief interaction he has with cross that she eavesdrops on.

Wren is so annoying and selfish too. Ergh.

This book is not as good as I remember. It has so many promising elements to it but … I think I’ve read so many awesome fantasy and dystopian books since I first read this that now I’m seeing that … there’s nothing in here except that Wren is very horny.

What actually happened between Jordan and Matt? It’s never actually explained why they’ve been on and off again?

Pet peeve. Short sentences. Like this. Throughout. An entire novel.

Okay why am I feeling sympathy for Isaiah and Karen? God I hope they actually turn semi “good” and properly team up with Samkiel and Dianna.

I hate knowing the last book isnt finished yet and I’m gonna finish this one (probably today) and have to wait in pure ANGUISH until it’s released 😢

How is this book so popular?! I’m at 24% and have to DNF. It’s so depressing and intense. 24% of Helena being trapped in Ferron’s house and abused and raped and wandering around the rooms. Nothing else happens.
