I'm absolutely treasuring this book so far. I hope the ending doesn't lose it, but even if it does, there's so much wonderful stuff in it anyway. Truly spooky occurrences and mysteries, literature and philosophy, Americana, aloneness, great moments of tension, heartbreak, nostalgia. It would have to really flop in the second half to have any chance of NOT being my favorite horror read of the last year.
