Almost done....Trollope is long winded, but I love his writing. It's taking me a long while to read Can You Forgive Her? but I am enjoying it. How does Trollope know women so well...he was an advocate for women, God Bless him.

She wore dresses. Being a widow, she wore them black. Being a woman of her time, she wore them long.
The girls of her day, I think, must have been like well-wrapped gifts, to be opened by their husbands on their wedding night, a complete surprise. "Well! What's this?"

Not enjoying as much as the first two books in the series, but Trollope is always good...

Monte Verita (Mountain of Truth) ... beautiful, my favorite story so far, I went back to read the beginning again as the story was introduced with the ending, The Birds, I've seen the movies many times and this short story kept me on the edge of my seat.

The twist in the story has become clear; I can see where we are heading. I'm not finding the writing up to Boyne standards; I think I might switch to the audio, it has good reviews.

I cannot stop reading this book…every free minute I have I’m lost in this story. I wake up in the night and grab my Kindle to read a few more chapters. I’ve never been so happy to read a book that is over 900 pages. I don’t want it to end!

MFS can write....so beautiful.

She's trying to check too many boxes....female discrimination, sexual assault, racism, homosexuality, animal abuse and religion. Pick a box and run with it. I'm only on page 87... already skimming. This is just bad....Why do I always feel that I have to finish a book that a friend recommended?

Understand why Part 2 Chapter 5 is controversial…default to truth is instinctive, but it still makes me cringe in these situations.

Enjoying....but not sure what all the hype is about...

Very wordy…I like the story, but so many lovely passages almost interfere with story. I know I’m an outlier on this one.

150 pages in and I'm still not engaged. Love Mary Doria Russell so I'm not giving up....

Enjoying immensely...this is my e-book that I read in the middle of the night when I can't sleep....moving up to my main daytime read.

I do love country life in a British village....these ladies are a delight.

The writing is beautiful, this is a slow read in order to appreciate.
