Not gonna lie this probably would’ve been a DNF/probably wouldn’t have read it in the first place if it was not recommended to me by a friend because they like the narrator + audiobook. Narrator is good, but definitely have to force myself to continue on especially now that I’m nearly halfway done anyway.

I have yet to meet a T. Kingfisher book I don’t immediately become obsessed with.

genuinely unsure how I'm going to cope when I don't have more Ana & Din mysteries to read when I finish this one.

I cannot begin to express how much I love these books. This series is already an all time favorite. The mystery is SO good, and the characters and banter, plus the unique world everything is all in *chef's kiss*

I genuinely need this series to continue on forever
(Third book just came out last week and I am already excited to devour immediately after finishing this one)

This is starting to feel like Tolkien wrote a long winded Twilight fanfic for dark academia adults… which is not the worst thing if it’s your vibe.

Started off strong but became increasingly boring and overly dependent on the romance plot without much else going on,
+ just so many long unnecessary scenes - the supernatural yoga class is what did me in for the DNF.

Who knows. May revisit. May not (prob not)

Ngl. This series isn’t my fav of hers but I’m determined to continue and they’re easy audiobooks (and from the library) to listen to when cleaning and driving etc.
But good god am I excited to return to a more substantial book after these last few.

I started off really loving this book, but I’m at the point where it’s taking me so much effort to not DNF. The FMC has become honestly insufferable.

Her lack of ability to communicate, plus her constant jumping to conclusions makes me want to punch her almost as often as she decides that she wants to slap someone for doing something absolutely human, that seems to annoy her and her immaturely developed brain.

I mean why not add a 970 page historical fiction samurai epic to my growing pile of books I’m bouncing between?

Maybe I’m so salty about more contemporary books rn bc rereading anything Vonnegut just does something to my brain. The way this man writes and uses words.

I am a sucker for dark humor and beautifully simple prose. 10/10 always. So it goes.

DNF for now but may revisit if I find myself in the mood. Was gonna try to slog through but life is too short to force yourself to read books that you’re just not vibin at the moment.

I can def see how this would make a fun movie though.

Right now 1/3 of the way, and I can’t be bothered to care about any of the characters at all, and in fact rather dislike them. Hopefully if I return I’ll be less judgy lol

I love this wonderfully weird man so much.
Listening to this as an audiobook with David Lynch narrating is like him guiding you along the strangest yet coziest acid trip.
I forever will aspire to be as freely myself as this man was himself, and to create with as much joy and intention.

My brain can't seem to cooperate and focus on any of the other 5 books I'm reading (and even though enjoying truly) at the time, and I saw this in a store today, so here we go.
