It's really interesting to see the powerful, morally grey, seductive Duke as a woman. So far I'm intrigued.

I was on the fence about this at first because I wasn't sure about the writing initially and I thought the characters were kind of annoying but... they grew on me! Juniper has very Avra/chaos goblin vibes and we all know how much I love those sorts of characters. The baby dragon is very cute and the UST is USTing. There's a little too much "I won't think about that" and getting cut off = miscommunication

This hasn't grabbed me so far, but that's maybe because I just finished another cozy read. I'll give it more time.

I feel like nothing much has happened and yet also I've been completely sucked in and immersed. I also vaguely remember the twist at the end, or part of it, and I"m seeing so many hints that everyone in the story misses.

Riley Black excels at bringing fossils to life with stories & visceral juicy language. It makes her books really fun to read -- especially to read aloud, as I'm doing with this one to my 12 year old at bedtime. I also approve of her choice to include a same sex mating scene, especially after reading her explanation in the appendix of why she chose to include it. The story follows a single Trex from egg through life.

I hated to stop reading this but I'm reading it for bookclub so I had to lol. I had gotten behind so I binged the audio of the second half of the first book, the entire second book, and the first half of this book. The audiobooks are fantastic and really bring the story to life. And they're great for really feeling winter.

So, I still don't know how I feel about this book. Which is ridiculous at 77% in. But this book is ridiculous. It's funny, but it really pushes the boundary between what I find funny and what I find annoying. I still haven't decided where it lands overall.

The racism and classism is even worse (so much worse!) in this book than the last one. The kids are just annoying and you can't really tell one from another because they're each sort of a general kid. And things just happen to them. Not my kind of book at all, but I'll soldier on because it's for book club.

This took me a little bit to get into: the first section of the book focuses on their sexual encounters--not my favorite way to start a book. The narrator has a deep gravelly voice that you have to really listen to to catch everything. The writing style also took getting used to: it's very brief and abrupt which is rather the opposite of what I usually listen to. It's growing on me as it gets more emotional depth.

I'm reading this with my 11 year old. It's packed with important information. It's not a fun read, by any means, but I think it is an important one. It tells the story of abolition starting with the american revolution and continuing through the civil war and reconstruction.

I don't know what to think about this book. It's clever and funny and whimsical but it's also tedious and too long. Also the instalust romance isn't really doing it for me. I keep thinking I'll DNF and then reading just one more chapter. So I really don't know.

I LOVE this! It feels like a fairy tale retelling, but none of the elements are familiar to me. So it's either fairy tales I've never heard of or completely original with the fairy tale flavor. The writing is fantastic and the story is captivating. The characters are great. The details are fabulous. It has so much texture. Also the audiobook narrator does a great job bringing it to life.
