Jackson is finished with Children of Strife (Children of Time, #4)
A far future alien species using the term "cosplaying" as a point of reference is pretty weird. It broke my immersion a bit. But considering that's my only gripe in the first 600 pages that's not bad going. Tchaikovsky's book are consistently brilliant, and this one is no different, minor nit-picking aside.

This is basically a graphic novel adaptation of Annihilation, but set in Australia. It's pretty good, but right now it's far too derivative. I'm hoping it pulls something more unique out the bag before the end.

This book is over 600 pages long so my tracking is a little off. It's so good though. Nobody is doing like Tchaikovsky.

I've been listening to this over the last week or so while I do work in the garden. I can definitely understand why it's detested by some readers, because the main character is truly (and deliberately) detestable, but as an older fantasy story with just "OK" writing, and barely a handful of original ideas so far, it's definitely not the worst I've encountered in my not inconsiderable experience in the genre.

This man... I sometimes feel like he writes books with my interests and preferences in mind.

All other books are going on hold temporarily because the legends at Pan Macmillan came through with a very early review copy! I've been looking forward to this one for so long - we are going on an adventure!

The tension is riding high at all times. That's such a hard thing to do as a writer but Mr Ben Counter is absolutely nailing it here. The pot is on a perpetual boil.

Thank you to DK for sending me a free copy of this! They know at this point that I will forever appreciate the opportunity to read and review anything Warhammer related, so many thanks.

That being said - my collection of art/coffee table books grows dangerously large now... Particularly for someone who doesn't actually have a coffee table.

This world deserves an MMO. I'm only 2 books in and already the depth and breadth of world-building is immense. I'd love to go for a virtual tour.

This smells of Heresy and I love it. Sorry Loken.

I need to stop starting books, but I need my Warhammer fix.

There is a noticeable increase in interesting and varied panel positioning in this volume already. The creativity with which the art is displayed is wonderful. That's to say nothing of the plot or the fascinating character work happening this arc - the relationship dynamics are so messy and so real.

I only read this last year, but I am rereading it for Bookclub. I wonder if I'll like it as much this time around? There is definitely something bizarrely cozy about it, tonally at least.
