It's been a slow reading month for me, but if any book can get me out of a bit of a "slump", it'll be this one. I'm so ready to see what Tchaikovsky has got in store for us this time.

I forgot just how agonising it is to see Bran and Jon so close to each other without quite meeting. How different things would have been... Alas.

I will forever defend this being one of the finest fantasy series of all time, even if it's never finished. There is nothing quite like it.

We just received an early copy of this at work and something about it just grabbed me. I am not familiar with Charles Foster, but as a concept, juggling geography, perspective, evolution, philosophy and movement... this could really tick some boxes - we shall see.

It sucks every time to read Daenerys wonder what it'll be like when she reaches the Seven Kingdoms... YEAH I WONDER THAT AS WELL!

I am starting my third read of book #3 - I am taking my time with this read-through because it's possible that I won't have to reread this series again before it gets a new entry, although I'm not hopeful.

Still - one of the finest fantasy books ever written right here, so I shall savour it anew each and every time.

My partner and I are doing a few book swap recommendations this year. I've given her four of my favourite books (that I think she'll enjoy) and she has done likewise.

This is the first on the list for me and it's off to very strong start! I'm going into it with some positive bias, but no spoilers, and I am looking forward to seeing where it goes!

A far future alien species using the term "cosplaying" as a point of reference is pretty weird. It broke my immersion a bit. But considering that's my only gripe in the first 600 pages that's not bad going. Tchaikovsky's book are consistently brilliant, and this one is no different, minor nit-picking aside.

This is basically a graphic novel adaptation of Annihilation, but set in Australia. It's pretty good, but right now it's far too derivative. I'm hoping it pulls something more unique out the bag before the end.

This book is over 600 pages long so my tracking is a little off. It's so good though. Nobody is doing like Tchaikovsky.

I've been listening to this over the last week or so while I do work in the garden. I can definitely understand why it's detested by some readers, because the main character is truly (and deliberately) detestable, but as an older fantasy story with just "OK" writing, and barely a handful of original ideas so far, it's definitely not the worst I've encountered in my not inconsiderable experience in the genre.

This man... I sometimes feel like he writes books with my interests and preferences in mind.
