Why do I do this to myself? Starting another massive book whilst juggling almost a dozen others... I just can't help it! This is off to an intriguing start though. I like the tone and style, and the writing itself is splendid.

Wow this last chunk was an absolute whirlwind! So much is happening! This is great fun.

I am really enjoying the world and the plot here, the aesthetic is great too. I can really picture everything the settings, but thematically it's definitely giving "pro-AI" vibes right now, which I'm aware might change later, but I hope that this isn't what this book is about.

Oh this is so much fun!

Home stretch now!

I started this at Bookclub and then left my copy at work before a 5 day break, and I honestly am thinking about it a lot. Right from the start it's so mysterious and weird and I'm desperate to get to know the world a bit better!

If nothing else I have something to look forward to once my break is over and I go back to work. But yeah, so far so good.

I've been waiting for these two specific characters to have this specific conversation for 3 books now(!) and damn it did not disappoint!

I've never seen such a strong punk message wrapped up and presented this way... I had no idea that's what this was going to be but I'm all for it. Animal Rights, Anti-capitalism, Direct Action... Good shit.

I haven't picked this up in a while because I've been juggling so many books recently, but even just reading 30 pages to refresh myself, I'm so drawn in. I really need a week off to really just catch up on everything I'm reading and get a good chunk done.

The question of morality surrounding a lovers bond, particularly when the power dynamic between the two is disparate or unbalanced - really well handled. Plus loss and heartache being explored in a variety of parallel ways at the same time... beautiful stuff.

It's pretty wild that's what this book is about really, because on the page it's all demons and necromancy and a whore house on the back of a dead crab.

I would absolutely love a 1-1 chat with this man about his inspirations and research methods. These books really do tick all of my boxes.

A satirical SF graphic novel with an animal rights message straight out of the gate? And the beautiful cover too?! Tick tick tick, let's go.

I feel like this book is about to pull the rug from under me...

It's wild to me that this book is considered the weakest of the series (so far).

Time to jump back into this proper. I really need to stop starting more books but it's hard because I want to read everything. This is so so good though.
