It's good. Interesting to hear different interviewers ask him questions. Still HST's frustration comes out when asked the same questions. You'd think these people would read other interviews and find alternative questions to ask him. I'm about halfway through so I'll see if it's more of the same.

It's a good cookbook. It could have really lived up to an excellent cookbook's potential by including charts of different foods and their carb counts, substitutions for common carb heavy foods like mashed potatoes, pasta and the like, and other information pertaining to carb diets and why to follow them.

The 1st pages (to 13,) are missing. I was disgusted that someone borrowing from the library would do that and wasn't going to read this but left it in the loo and I can't stop reading it. So I'm going to see if I can get those pages at some point and keep on reading.

Jaded. The writing isn't fresh, it's bitter and not involved. The stories are interesting in subject. I understand why the writer is jaded but it would be nice to try to add some freshness, a little background. Maybe it's my fault, I should buy biographies of all these people (except Brian Wilson, that's a serious long term car crash and brain damage story I want to read but need to reserve for strength).

A guesstimate of where I am. There are many dessert and sweet type recipes in this book. It seems to not be a very serious book as there's a these little tidbit and trivia interspersed throughout. And these little "gems" are less cooking tips and more "fun facts" that don't help with the recipes. Many recipes are of the type where I'd find a master recipe and merge the little ones under that. It's hard to open it now

So far I'm not impressed. Like another reviewer commented the common ingredients in this book are processed items that are pretty close to unnatural. I don't like the fact that "The Laughing Cow Light Original Swiss Cheese" is a "Hungry Girl Staple" I've tried one of those little squares and they have an unnatural taste to them. It wouldn't be so bad except that she doesn't include an alternative to use in it's place

I like to have a book in the loo and one by the bed. I fear that I should switch this one in the loo for Role models (John Waters,) by the bed. Role Models keeps meup wanting more. This one is more like a punishment that the "hip" Music Teacher foists on you when he thinks you'd want to get educated. Someone save me from the soap box.

I've read most of this book. I like Ebert's opinions mostly. Some are funny some are interesting but most are fair.

Uh, this is one of those books you rarely finish because it's a reference. A good one too.
I reread certain reviews, just because I forget them. Again, this is a book you don't read all the way through to get the meaning of a story. Since it's reference it can be read again and again and enjoyed.

I am really enjoying it and wished I didn't read the reviews here. I think people who are younger aren't familiar with the stories that were written during that time expecting the movies that were made with Dick's ideas in mind to be the "real" stories.
I've finished it. I only wish I bought the other book I found at Brown Bookstore.
