Superb. These early stories peak on nostalgia for me, but had some tight and clever scripting. You can see why it was such a success.

Just superb, even with the crowded panels. Got through the obligatory early Marvel alien story and it wasn’t crazy bad. The dr doom one was fun, but vulture, chameleon, and Doc Ock were great

Still not sure what I feel about the Snap Wilson plot, but reaching the end of this uneven gap between Englehart and Kirby returning

The end of Engleharts run with the Red Skull storyline and his dust of death. Not sure I like the twist with Sam’s origin: seemed utterly pointless as a long winded tool to get another Falcon v Cap scrap.
And can’t gel with Frank Robbins art.

184 and Caps back. I thought we’d get longer with Nomad, but at least Herb Trimpe is drawing this one.

Englehart still writing well, but the change in artist really doesn’t work for me.

Not a fan of the cape… “No, capes!”

Onto issue 180 with the arrival of Nomad. Classic era.

Good bulky fun, and penned by Stan Lee himself. Trumpet’s art grows on you, especially with his own inking.

4 in and these are good fun. The two alien ones are east enough reading but the Sandman and Mandarin pair are better. Onto the Leader next

Starting the Hulk 111-121… could be fun

Solid stuff. The werewolf story was daft but the art was good. Beyond that we have had the excellent Peggy story and the Yellow Claw run. Just great

That Peggy Carter story was great. Enjoying the writing and Sal Buscema art too

Really enjoying this. They stepped back from the misjudged Femme Force and inter-racial politics (though they do feature). Bonkers stories with Scorpion and Mr Hyde, a dust off with Nick Fury, then pseudo Cap and Bucky with a twist

Amusing thus far, especially the funeral scene. Reminded me of Tom Sharpe at times

Patchy. The art is good throughout but the stories vary considerably. Grey Gargoyle one was over stretched and silly in the end, the Harlem ones cringeworthy, the HYDRA v Femme Force… not as bad as I thought despite the misjudged idea.

Not bad so far. Art passable and plot is bonkers as he limos from one scrap to the next. Liked the rhino story, the Missing Link one… less so. The Soviet version of SHIELD was funny, though too much of a challenge considering their lack of super powers

Enjoyed the first mini adventure very much. Nicely layered investigation in a contained locale.

Neil Adams’s art is quite a step up, and certainly aids the story.

Enjoyable yarn, and good audiobook thus far though the faux-brogue is wearing thin.
