Debra Robert is starting Loyalty
I gave this book a “5” after reading the Author’s Notes. I’m preparing a trip to Sicily and was amazed at the abundance of true history in Loyalty. It enriched my reading experienced dramatically. I look forward to visiting the places, so well detailed, in Lisa Scottoline’s super well researched historical fiction novel.

Debra Robert is starting Stamped from the Beginning: The Definitive History of Racist Ideas in America
This book is a research product. As much reading as I have done there was so much yet to learn. What an amazing product by Ibram X Kendi.

Way too long. Just not great.

The only thing I got to see from the book is the way people misinterpret why others say what they do. Everyone brings their own history to relationships. We should ask for clarification instead of reacting/over-reacting.

Debra Robert is starting We of Little Faith: Why I Stopped Pretending to Believe (and Maybe You Should Too)
This was interesting and refreshing. Just as much as this book is about atheism, it’s also about truthfulness. How do we teach our children to be honest? How do we show the world all of who we are? It’s about creative problem solving too. I enjoyed this.

Lots of quick witted humor. Complicated to read and would be a challenge to put on. So many 1 word lines. Very funny.

Debra Robert is starting And the Mountains Echoed
It’s a good book for book club. I liked his other two books better but great themes running through with a sense of humanity. Lots of characters.

Debra Robert is starting The Fish Can Sing
Of all the Icelandic Lit I have read, this is the least dark. It is often outlandish and eccentric. After spending some time in a Iceland one could see that they are a people that think out of the box, where anything and everything goes and where nothing is left unconsidered.

This book might not be so bad if it was in order. I listened to the audio and there is music playing most of the time. Weird

Debra Robert is starting The Last House on the Street
I really was not liking this book in the beginning but it gradually got better and I couldn’t put it down. I appreciated the combining of two stories in such a creative way. I was not prepared for the conclusion. This is history - horrifying and sad. We don’t learn from our mistakes and people don’t seem to change.

Difficult to read. Important to read. Historically accurate. Erika Robuck has written about two heroic woman. I couldn’t help but compare the Germans to what the Russians are doing today.
What the heck are wrong with people?
