The High Lords meet at the Dawn Court where Thesan, Helion, Beron, Kallias, and Viviane appear. Only Autumn hasn’t agreed to strike an alliance against Hybern. Feyre realizes that Lucien is Helion’s heir; Nesta senses the Cauldron before it brings down the wall, thrusting Elain to convince Graysen and his father to make their fortress as a sanctuary. Jurian’s true intentions are revealed as Hybern moves.

Elain is a seer, setting up her future role and eventual book. Vassa is mentioned; Nesta and Feyre grow closer, as does Cassian; Hybern attacks the Summer Court and the High Lords agree to meet at the Dawn Court. Feyre selects her crown with interesting hints to the Maasverse. The Seraphim, Nephelle’s Flight, abd Mor’s sword hold clues (as do Amren and Nesta). Mask imagery abounds. War has arrived.

The priestess’ library, implications of Eris’ true role within Mor and Lucien’s story, questions pertaining to the Bone Carver and his siblings, further hints at what lies ahead for Amren, Nesta, Elain, Azriel, and Cassian… so much tension and buildup and setup that SJM established here that also makes for such a compelling, intricate, and deeply compelling narrative! I am gobbling this reread up!

Feyre and Lucien evade capture and return to the Night Court. New dynamics and tensions arise between the newcomers, particularly with Nesta and Elain. Movements and preparations are being made for the upcoming war with Hybern, while Feyre begins to train her wings. Lots of foreshadowing and symbolism that I’ve caught regarding the Archeron sisters’ futures (as well as other characters). Especially with Amren.

At long last—rereading this!!! That first part was so good: fast-paced, jammed with court intrigue and complex intricacies. Feyre’s gone into complete boss mode as she schemes to get the information from the Spring Court for the upcoming war with Hybern. I really appreciated her dynamic with Lucien in this book; I feel like this is where Lucien shines as a character. Also so many thoughts and theories I have!

The Court of Nightmares, Starfall/Nynsar, the Suriel’s reveal of Rhys being Feyre’s mate… UGH this buildup is SO GOOD! Can’t wait to finish my reread of this tomorrow!

Gosh—this book is such PEAK SJM! So much happens and is revealed: the Summer Court, the mortal queens, Miryam and Drakon. Feyre slowly healing and finding her stride through training and friendship with the Inner Circle. And seeing so many easter eggs are littered alongside heavy foreshadowing and symbolism just reminds me constantly of the sheer depth and scope of SJM’s ability to craft a fantastic story.

Feyre went to the Weaver’s cottage and then she and the Bat Boys went to the human realms to see her sisters to reach out to the six mortal queens. The pacing of this book is next level!

Picking this back up after catching up on my reread notes! Feyre meets the Inner Circle and goes to see the Bone Carver with Rhys. Gosh—SJM, you foreshadowing genius!!! SO much detail is in this book and it’s only book two 😩

This book is SO GOOD—the way in which Feyre is so clearly affected by what happened in the last book and is needing to heal and reclaim herself. Rhys is encouraging it but Tamlin is neglecting it. Seeing how characters like Lucien and Alis navigate this dynamic is truly eye-opening. Also love Mor, iconic queen! And now, they arrived in Velaris after Tamlin locks Feyre away. So excited to see the Inner Circle again!

At long last—my third reread of ACOMAF, beloved! Wow, how I am already swept away into the story. The pacing and effortlessness is truly incredible: seeing the beginning Feyre’s growth in this book from ACOTAR is so engaging; this story is ultimately about stepping into your power and finding your sense of home. Rhys is also such a fascinating character; it’s nice to finally be able to relive their story!

Visiting her family but realizing the dangers that Prythian is in, Feyre returns only to discover the truth from Alis about Amarantha and the curse on the High Lords. Now, they have struck a bargain and her trials Under the Mountain begin. Gosh, SO much foreshadowing of the Maasverse and the series! I would say that Feyre’s observations and moments with Nesta and Elain foreshadowed their eventual arcs.

Rhysand appears again and warns of the upcoming dangers awaiting them Under the Mountain with Amarantha. Tamlin sends Feyre away to her family, where she realizes more of the family dynamic: especially with her sisters. I’m curious to see Elain’s perspective in all of this; SJM did such a great job foreshadowing Nesta’s POV in ACOSF that I can see her vision for Elain in the next book.

More bonding and expansion of the world! Feyre sees through the glamours and shows Tamlin her paintings in the gallery. Then the Summer Solstice occurs and they share their first kiss. Knowing what’s to come, it’s bittersweet how much this meant to Feyre at the time. And what darkness awaits them… enjoying this audiobook!

So MUCH happened: some bonding between Feyre, Tamlin and Lucien at the glen. I still feel like that pool of starlight they swam in will be important in the Maasverse somehow. Also SJM mentions stags regarding Tamlin a couple of times to make me believe the theories that he is somehow to ToG/CC. Also, Calanmai! Rhys’ iconic first appearance and the Rite. Gosh, SJM truly does such a great job at foreshadowing!

So much happened during this session: Feyre works in Tamlin’s study, where we see the mural to Prythian hinting at much of the Maasverse. Then the iconic first interaction with her and the Suriel (with MUCH foreshadowing of Rhysand and the Night Court). Then the fallout of the naga and the tragic, heartbreaking cruelty of the faerie who lost his wings… I cried! The plot is SO much better than I remembered!

I forgot to update this the other day, but I listened to two chapters via audiobook on a train ride! Feyre’s experience with the puca was frightening, and I left off at a pretty important chapter! It’s so interesting to see how the character dynamics shift in this first book!
