Already I can see how different the tone is from the first book.. but not necessarily in a good way. In the Handmaid's Tale, the tone is melancholic, somewhat defeated at times. The few instances of hope from Offred are something to be treasured. Little victories in her bleak world.
This book... kind of reads like a typical YA novel. Was this written by Atwood? It seems so different from her former writing style

This took me a long time to finish both because I annotated a lot and because it was a tough read.

I think everyone should read it at least once in their lives.
