there is something comforting about the fact that characters set 100 years ago can feel so relatable. the female existentialism is put into words so perfectly by de Beauvoir. enjoying this recommendation so far.

Yes, this update is for page 1. I am not one who usually makes her mind up on page 1 of a book, but the writing is pure exposition so far and all the astrology talk is really taking me out of it. Will carry on because I really want to end up liking this book #ilovelesbians

A book heavily centred on the pain of one genocide (the Armenian genocide) casually and flippantly mentioning Israel? Even if it’s just once, I find it heavily ironic. Maybe it was intentional from the author, but I will have to do more research on her work. Completely snapped me out of my immersion.
