This book makes you think a lot about how we deal with our humannness, the bad and good parts of us and how every person has both.

So I love the slow burn of the forced proximity and affection (while still being consensual!) but him being such an ass is throwing me off. I get he expects good work from scientists but I’m curious how this storyline will be turned around as I do perceive it turning into them actually dating.

It’s getting juicy and cute and it’s a slow burn so I’m looking forward to it more and more

It’s getting a little more juicy and like what will they do next vibes but still unsure how this has been a major hit. But once again I’m critical lol. I’m glad I’m reading the audiobook and not the physical book

15 pages in and it’s kind of unbelievable how gripping the storyline is AND matched by an exquisite prose. Wow I’m so excited and I neeeeded a good read. I feel they’ve been mid lately especially physical books.

I’m not quite sure yet why this book is so hyped but I am only 16% into the audiobook, which has good narration. I can say I don’t dabble tooo often into romance and this type of fake dating seems gimmicky and lofty I’m probably being too serious and critical.

It’s crazy how much I was liking this book in the beginning, but because of the three part narrator style, it just has slowly fallen off from me at the end.. also there’s a little bit more about Chinese history in here and their government during that time and it’s not the vibes. I’m desiring in my reading right now with all that’s going on in the world.

So this book has three parts and I don’t love the third narrator. Also the story gets a little depressing as far as it has a political tone that is too triggering for what’s going on in the US right now and I feel even tho I listen intently I’m missing the details of the magical realism because its only sprinkled in. Ready to finish it lowkey .. 3 hours left :/

At more than half in I THINK I’m getting to the magical realism part, which I didn’t pick up this book for the magical realism .. I actually didn’t read about the plot before reading.. I had just remembered seeing it online and wanting to read it.. but I do love magical realism. Much more contemporary fiction tho.

Reading this in conjunction with listening to The Real Americans is a good side by side as they both dissect Asian identity in different spaces and microagressions and what society expects of persons from this culture. Really enjoying my reads which I’ve needed. Can’t wait to watch the show

I’m really enjoying this novel. The prose is really nice for what I was looking for. I’m so interested to see what happens

This book has a thriller mystery aspect to it now! This is one of those novels that I remember researching when it first came out, but then when I saw it was available as an audiobook I simply checked it out & forgot a lot of the plot. I like when I dont have expectations going in. I went to check the genres & was surprised to see theres no mystery but theres magical realism. Not sure where that is but excited!

I really appreciate the arcs being placed where they were in this book as far as the dilemmas and the character development and the romance, it’s making for a juicy novel and even tho there’s lots of superficiality in this book with the high society and designer labels, there’s genuine characters and real dilemmas that I’m enjoying but it’s not too serious either. A good balance for me right now.

It’d just the type of fluffy lighthearted book I needed and it has real elements of seriousness but nothing where it’s too heavy for in between my day to day heaviness! Yay. From my old fashion days it’s fun to hear of some things mentioned in high society

I wanted to get into fall reading vibes and this stood out as a short feminist retelling of sleeping beauty. It is outside my usual genre but so far it’s a quick interesting read

No book has been sticking for me lately. Been in a lull for months and I hate it. A lot of my preferences have been changing being in a new job and needing something light, not serious. I asked AI what book would be like Selling Sunset, gossipy juicy and nothing heavy and serious, with maybe a little romance or thriller, and this came up. So far it’s gossipy and juicy and I’m into it.

I have to DNF this right now it’s about a dystopian society where people are threatened to be taken from their homes by the memory police and with everything going on it hits a little too hard. I also saw a review that said someone felt they would’ve enjoyed it reading it and I agree the audiobook narrator is a little boring.

It’s not pretentious but it’s windy and sometimes I get lost in the writing.

Started this because the love it or hate it debate has me invested … I don’t mind sad novels but I’m eager to see what folks are talking about when they talk about this novel. So far, loving the writing style. The four main characters were introduced all at once which felt overwhelming but slowly but surely their unique stories and personalities build.

What’s nice about this novel is it start off very compelling… part mystery part what is this society? And the characters and pieces slowly give way with each story of disappeared items. I love when it doesn’t take long; I’m engaged!

This is such a compelling read. I’m really enjoying the ominous mystery and the other scenes that have been entered. Misha is a great character ! It’s just so good!

A bang in the beginning and then subtle moments of building the plot. As a cinema girly I’m really enjoying this. I’m excited to see where it goes

Okay I am so looking forward to this HUGE ensemble cast on audiobook! Quite a few notable names. I am also pleased that this book doesn’t shy from getting right to a juicy plot and opening set up that we were promised on the inside cover. I’m invested, love the immersion of the movie studio and world we are in with the characters and am digging the tone

As powerful as this novel is I feel it could have something tying it all together to make me more invested. It’s a long boy and not gonna lie I’m ready to be done with it but still have close to three hours left .. ugh . But it’s a great and important read. Hope that makes sense

Okay I am loving Hendrix’s story but not gonna lie the pacing is much slower than I thought. Being literally half way through and the low amount of sex talk was not what I expected and not just because it’s single Auntie vibes Hendrix but this is Ms Kennedy Ryan ! However I love the slow blossom I love the mesh of real life shit and romance and it’s fun! Skyland will be missed once I’m done so I’m savoring
