okay the book is definitely getting more interesting! there is more of a point to her husband being white. sucks that the isn’t here to protect Alice instead of Rufus

oh man. this book is pretty intense to read because it’s so graphic. interesting that her husband kevin is a white dude.

part of book bingo summer reading challenge! idk why octavia tends to pair up her female protagonist with a white boy/man. in this sense it’s not romantical, but like… what’s up with that. i’m referring to “fledging” so i guess that only one other book

what a slog! i read 2-3% before bed because it makes me tired. i’m reading this for book club but the way murakami writes about women in insufferable. why, in every 2% increment, is a woman’s chest or physique discussed and sexualized? no one is exempt, not older women, not children, UGH!!!! i will likely be slowly reading this book for years.

pretty interesting premise so far! easy to read

I’m listening to the audiobook so I’m not sure how far I’m in, but I grow more and more annoyed with every chapter. The reconstructed childhood scenes are so poorly written and corny. She’s just smiling to herself about how sneaky she is.
