Cliff is finished with Bloodline (Star Wars)
Interesting up until chapter 20 the book has been largely a political tale. Now that the premise has finally come out the book has become an emotional book about courage.

I love the rawness of Chan's writing.

Good stuff so far, but seems to be a rewrite of Platt's Radical

Lots of good advice in this book for church workers facing burn out. It's unfortunate that the perspective of the author only comes from corporation style mega churches, but the advice applies all the same.

So far it's a standard book on burnout with the angle toward the church - even church workers burn out (and every church worker said, 'Duh'.) But there's some real practical tools in here so far.

Cliff is 42% done with Overwhelmed: Winning the War against Worry
Almost half way through and aside from some contradictory statements at the beginning and some allegorizing of scripture there's some decent advice here. Cautiously optimistic given Noble's penchant for harassing believers over "tithing" and wanting to study the Bible.

Just read a part that says Jesus command to love God with all your heart, soul, strength and mind was a new command. Then the footnote says he's quoting Deuteronomy 6:5...doesn't that mean it's an old command?

Appreciate that with the mention of Jesus' siblings all three views are presented in the footnotes. Personally, I believe these siblings were Jesus' half brothers and sisters as Joseph and Mary went on to have kids.

Surprised that they call Mary Magdalene as a prostitute since this is not found in history until 100's of years later.

Something odd at this point is that on pg 30 it says that Caesar would rather be dead than feared, but the following 17 pages are all about why he is feared.
