I love the focus on joy for week 3. Asking questions about where we find our joy and how often we ask God for joy in all situations. Tis the season to find joy. I need to seek joy more.

These daily devotions have been helpful, but I must say that some authors make assumptions about their readers. Things like those reading were raised in a Christian home and went to church from a young age. She assumes that all the women are married with small children. Much of what she has written I can either try to apply it in some manner or I can ignore it all together.

The one thing I'm struggling with here is the test of memorizing scripture, which is the main focus of this devotion. After rounds of chemotherapy, I do not have as much ability to memorize anything. Each day, the focus is something I can concentrate on. Even without the memory, it is still worth reading.

As with most personal devotions, some of the daily thoughts simply don't relate to my life where it is right now. It does not mean that I stop reading. I continue to find those words that bless and encourage. Where one day is not inspiring, the next can convict deeply to inspire deep thought.

I must admit that this isn't what I thought it would be. I liked the first part just fine, but now I'm not sure it is worth the read. I am willing to see it to the end.

This book is an assignment in my group Bible Study. I ordered the wrong book, and so I'm reading this while the actual study guide is in route.
