i'm so close to having read an even 40 books this year but i don't think i'll be able to finish any of the ones i've already started in time. i refuse to force myself to read something i'm not in the mood for in the name of a reading challenge. i will stay strong! next year we shall end with an even number of books!! we shall persist!! we have autonomy and we will engage with art meaningfully!!

my progress on this is going to be the textbook definition of slow and steady

oof this is a little rough. i thought the first book in the series was a little dated. this one dialed it up about 10 notches.

a complete stranger just liked my review of Not Quite Dead Yet. they also rated it one star. i feel vindicated and seen. the human race is amazing. across vast distances of space and time we will find a way to commiserate over bad books. we will persist and build communities.

so far i really like this and it seems like what Love Letters to a Serial Killer and Matchmaking for Psychopaths wanted to be. which is funny considering Coryell blurbed it

i'm gonna be really disappointed if i'm right about who the killer is

jesus christ Sloane is so annoying. verging on 2-star territory here if not worse (i.e. 1 star)
