There are poignant and tragic aspects to this early story, but then the details of every moment felt tedious, too clean, similar to the author's own grief?In my own grief, sleep and rest and meaningful conversations were my help .This book wasn't helpful in that regard, and the love interest was predictable. I was hoping for some depth.

This reminds me in a limited way of THE FEARLESS MORAL INVENTORY OF ELSIE FINCH. It must be very difficult to look your past and your family's cultural faith in the eye and sort it out.
