I really am very sorry for not consistently updating here, but storygraph gives me so many fun stats to look at! I'm trying to be better at both

A second chance romance historical romance for a married couple who we've seen hints of in the previous novels written by Loretta Chase? Yes please

There continues to be MUCH wrong with this book but amongst the issues you'd think charles ii would be a bit too busy with the whole Cromwell Situation and what followed than having some mysterious entity rewrite tudor history for shits and giggles

Listen the other books weren't well written but there is something Truly Bizarre about the writing in this book specifically. I have nothing for you other than It Feels Real Weird. Maybe the hypothetical editor gave up and just tried to clear up the most glaring grammatical issues and had to leave everything else alone for time reasons and/or self defense, idk

The problem with coming off a run of good or at least engaging books is that it leaves you more irritated than usual when you pick up something boring

Okay fine I do like that the desperate and bonkers rescue plan is for his little sister and not the love interest

Okay I did snort at "Of course we're coming. Everlayne's our friend." And the other human being like. Actually. I have never met her. So.

I suppose soulmate identification by way of sexually communicable tattoos is at least kind of original

"She deserves to lose her hand for being upset that her family's religious heirloom was first destroyed then reforged and given to someone else without so much as a notification" sure is A take. It's a bad one. But it is a take.

I was trying to give the benefit of the doubt here but the way literally all of the characters treat and interact with Danya makes everybody look stupid or just bad, and the novel using her as a hamfisted mean girl equivalent to give Saeris some conflict is badly done.

I need to do more research, I can't remember if this is self or indie or tradpubbed, and until then I'm not going to judge the multiple typos in this chapter too harshly

Fellas is it gay to say you'll ensure you never take another breath if your battle buddy dies before you? Asking for a friend.

And this is the first time in 386 pages it's mentioned that apparently 70% of women from her ward are sterilized when they hit puberty. Don't get me wrong, discussions about bodily autonomy are WELCOME (and in this specific case interesting in combo with the blood oath that means she MUST follow Fisher's commands) I just feel like this should have come up sooner in the narrative.

We have reached the inevitable point in this genre of novel where I must ask, how does a woman who has been starved and dehydrated her entire life have 'phenomenal' tits and an ass that just won't quit.

Something grates at me about the way swearing is used in this book. It's probably a personal problem, but it's not like I don't swear all over the place myself? I can't put my finger on it.
