Holly is 40% done with The Cost of Ambition: How Striving to Be Better Than Others Makes Us Worse
I really appreciated the thought behind this book and thought the distinction between superiority and excellence was a good one. I didn't enjoy the chapters based on Milton or Kierkegaard as much as those on Paul, but found it all helpful and an excellent reframe of ambition

Holly is finished with The Myth of Good Christian Parenting: How False Promises Betrayed a Generation of Evangelical Families (Breaking the Cycle of Religious Trauma and Corporal Punishment)
I found this book tore down the last decades of "Christian parenting" advice indiscriminately using straw man arguments and extreme examples without offering a critique of the guiding principles themselves or offering an alternative.

Good overview of theology and differing views
It was an easy read, and she didn't go into as much detail on some topics as I'd like, but that just means I have to go study it further elsewhere, which I suppose is the point.

I found this to be such a profound little book. Not because I agreed with every statement made, but because it caused and continues to cause me to view menial moments in my day in light of what those moments say about God, about me, and about how they show individually and add up collectively to a greater purpose in His Kingdom.
