Dang. For a lawyer, Maggie sure has a closed mind and doesn't ask any questions. Jumps from one (wrong) assumption to the next. Maybe ask a question once in a while.

I've never met a more unlikable main character than Emerson. I want to like her. I want to root for her. But she's absolutely trash to her friends and her internal monologue is nails on a chalkboard. I don't want to DNF, because I've heard the other characters make up for it, but man do I dislike her.

This book desperately needs an editor.

The audiobook narrator reminds me slightly of Cecil from welcome to nightvale. They have a similar cadence that I find very relaxing.

So I'm glad I'm in a group read, cuz it got to read this and I'm p hooked

I never fully understood the whole "show, don't tell" thing until this book. It feels like a short story with past pools copy and pasted in. These are conversations Hamilton should be having with herself, and then writing scenes around. I don't want to hear that vampires suck blood. I want to see it. There is no emotion in didactic dialogue.

I really think we read this too young. I don't remember having the same sense of terror of the Sameness when I read this is school.

If this is lyrical, it's done to perfection. I want to read this book forever.

I'm actually really surprised at how much I'm enjoying this. It's a really interesting take on the whole post apocalyptic/ non sci-fi setting.

Putting this on hold until I can re read the full series so far

Pacing is a bit wonky. But I am thoroughly enjoying this.

Um...I enjoy it. But this is a bit contrived, no?
