Only 2 books left. I really need to take a break from my Litrpg to finish a series I really find amazing with maybe the most fitting narrator for these books that was possible!

I had to buy it and read it before I forget to much of all unnecessarily information in first half of book 1. I will relax with a Discworld book and maybe last book about Odd Thomas. Had to buy extra credits in addition to my yearly 12 aswell. This is in addition to that I listen to most of my books at Tokybook.com for free!

Listened to the short stories. Some are disturbing, but I think they are good. Trying the "novel" about the horny priest now lol

Very hard to be engaged when you meet a new character each page with no background and a name that is almost the same as 2 others you think maybe still is a part of the story. I will finish it. I was warned about the start.

Getting a urge to try Pillars of earth which is a "brick" (ca 1k pages) about a cathedral being built over 40 yrs. (Will read it, but it sounds boring. Saying something about this book so far..

I was aware that the first half of the book is pretty "all over the place" and this is supposed to "pick up-get sxxt together" soon. I hope so!Because the first half has been, well not very engaging and very hard to piece anything together. You get really no information on what is going on except for a few conversation between people you have no idea who are or if they even will play any role. I will find out though.

Need to take some breaks to finish this. I like the book and I will finish the series (7 books?) . I understand he will develop some more "abilities" and I am pretty sure what will be a "happy" ending for Odd who probably will never move on from his teenage chrush. Hopefully real people will, if not, who would get power to live on and if not who would they leave behind!

I started Brother Odd maybe a little soon after the second one. I will now prioritize this series. Seems hard to get the follow ups to the 3 first in the "big" series. It seems like this is a completed part tho, atleast I hope as only prince and the 7th in second apocalypse is available on Audible. Will mix in do you like it darker (or something by Stephen King aswell)

So nice to reengage with Discworld. I think I read everything in the main books, All arcs and single stories (small gods) except the witches. I will correct this. Strange that Stephen Baxter (?) isn't the narrator, but it is about women's rights (i assume)!

Terry Pratchett was a genius and just saw a few interviews. When knowing his disease and what waited for him is so sad. However Discworld will live on though!

Never thought a fantasy where mc is ten years old halfway through 1st book would get me stuck so bad! No Powerpuff girls, they are badass material arts, assassin's and mage nuns (last 2 I guess based on some training). I played a material art monk in my first MMORPG 25yrs ago! So impressed so far. Narrator sucks, however she could have been from Newcastle and spoken "yordie"they use text when one is interviewed on TV

Really intriguing. I have had problems finding fantasy series I can dive into after The First Law.

This is not that dark, but I think the "environment" (that middle ages was filthy, plagues and poverty) seems believable. This "need" seems unnecessary for even me, as well the genre is called FANTASY... However I like "life is not fair" theme. Maybe to early. I don't like the narrator. Hard to understand and mumbles.

Seems like a series I will like. A wizard private detective in a kinda "noir" (right term?) setting. A wizard "Maltese falcon Brando" (without remember if I ever seen it lol).

The author has a good vocabulary, people are not always snorting or scoffing... Butcher is a thorough writer with literary skills. Ofc this is my opinion after half a book for now 17? Books. The plan is supposedly 22 incl a trilogy ending?

After First Law trilogy, I found myself abit "wanting" after something similar. However I am not sure that is an easy task. I will check out this, I am not a big fan though of something that is not finished, after waiting over a decade to know how the GRRMs (book)Aria arch would end, but I don't think I ever will know that. But I see several people with overlapping taste like it, so I will see. Like the premise sofar

I have seen this recommend alot around "top fantasy series" lists on YouTube. After finishing Cradle I figured a trilogy would be ok.
And I am very impressed so far. I guess this would be R rated (adult, not American) if Cradle was PG-13.
No "clean heroes" which are motivated by humanity's best interest/make family and friends safe etc. so far a very dark environment (one MC is a inquisitor with tongs 😬).

This serie continue to grow on me, even if it started high. After reading some massive series, I do except some "low paced" parts. Will Wight don't use long descriptions of paths etc much . Actually instead of being in my usual "monotone" consumption of this, I actually hope I get more of what I see as "time sinks" in most other series (especially in those I quit, my fav is still ok). I hate I sometimes need sleep!!

Christmas indeed. Just came on Tokybook just under a week after Audible. Not long wait to save a credit!

Anyway, story is still continues where it stopped on a cliffhanger. I just had to make an update after a quote from the TV serie Heroes suddenly poped up:
"You have saved the cheerleader , now go save the world!" I so love eastereggs/popculture references!
Anyway if you still are abord, more of everything!

I have pondered if I should commit to this universe for a while. I have a problem quit things I read or watch if I have some reason to continue.
However I decided it was worth a shot!

I did alot of research and decided upon a reading order I found here https://thequilltolive.com/2024/12/06...
This sounds reasonable, since publication order is "wrong" as some parts were finished long before pub.

It is very promising. Narration from 3 first persons characters in interchanging chapters with barely no overlap which is a common thing in these kind of narrative or they are in different places.

In this it looks like there is a clear storyline where pov change between the characters smoothly. Very good.

I like the premise and I am sure I will wish this was not a single novel.
