This one took a while to get into. It was a decent start, but indicated no direction... or at least a confusing story direction. There are multiple parts to the story. I find that the characters are too real, i.e., barely likable. The protagonist isn't even a likable character. I'm just trying to get through it.

I'm finding difficulty getting into the history of the East. I thought it would be so fascinating! The history of the Eastern hemisphere has education, intrigue, art, war, and civilization; but the writers are making it lackluster. Could be so much better.

James Rollins is an interesting writer. I like his stories. They kind of remind me of Dan Brown, but Rollins stories are captivating me as much as Brown did. The stories are each unique, however, and the premises are good. I think I may be tiring of this genre. So sad.

Still on the first story. Hehehe Read them before, but it's always nice to visit your childhood.

I just started this book, actually, but thus far, I like the direction the author is going. It will be exciting to dig into this deeper.

So far, I really like this story. Having a book club meeting on completion of this book next Friday. I like that the author does a good job with distinct characters.

Just as I noted with Saladin, Mr. Lane's writing is very dry. Hard to get into the book. Hopefully, it picks up.

Joyce is instructive and straightforward. I enjoy her writing as much as I do listening to her. She provides scriptural reference throughout, which I appreciate, which allows me to really study what she is teaching. Good teacher, good book.

Diane is on page 244 of 512 of Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind
This book is very well written and easy to understand. It really is a layman's perspective (it appears) that provides a lot of information on history (a lot of which I have already learned from Jared Diamond). I do enjoy Yuval's writing style and how he puts his information together. Good read!

Diane is on page 126 of 384 of The Way of Herodotus: Travels With the Man Who Invented History
This is an entertaining piece, but I wouldn't have read it had I known that it was a book that just follows Herodotus path as he travels the East. I didn't pay attention to the title, obviously. The writer is obviously enamored of Herodtus (and I am going to read Histories based on this); however, it really isn't very informative or substantive; not really worth my time, but I intend to finish the book.

Nora Roberts isn't my favorite, but her writing style is fluid, and I do enjoy some of her stories. I am enjoying this one; however, she does tend to skip - make gaps in the story - which could add to the story by actually writing about the conflicts rather than gloss over them in a sentence or two.

The story is great. I love political drama books. The writing, however, is mediocre. Some of the dialogue is awkward, but I like the story and enjoy this book.

Just beginning, but what I first took for a New Age meditation journal is in reality a scientist searching and finding peace in the natural world, in everyday observations. So far so good.

In the beginning I was skeptical, but a quarter way through the book I became totally engaged. So far I'm loving this book. I'm going to find other books by Bill McKibben. Love his reporting style of writing that sets forth all sides of the issue while still retaining clarity of his own perspective and opinion.

Diane is finished with Death's Acre: Inside the Legendary Forensic Lab the Body Farm Where the Dead Do Tell Tales
The book was informative, but it wasn't what I thought it would be. My impression was it was a description of the founding and operation of The Body Farm. It was more about Dr. Bass' more memorable cases. It just happened to also mention when the Body Farm was founded.
