Loving this. You could tell the last book was setting us up to introduce Harriet. I knew this was coming, but I had no idea how or when. Book #5 gave a great setup, and now here she is! Right off the bat, we meet her, on trial for murder. Such fun!

This book is absolutely delicious. I’ve been savoring it one chapter at a time each night as a treat to look forward to ❤️

I’m struggling. The author doesn’t believe the validity of the Bible on its own terms. The assumptions made are exhausting.

This is fascinating and though I’m barely a quarter through it, I’m already excited about rereading it in the future

The 1st quarter was intriguing. The author acknowledged a big difference between big T Traumas and little t traumas, while acknowledging that little t traumas have an impact.

Then it turned into My First Dictionary of trauma, elucidating on why everything is trauma. Discipline is trauma, birth is trauma, capitalism is trauma. I have invested 10 hours into it, but there are 8 more hours to go 😬

I keep trying to make a go of it, but I think I’m done. As Orwell said: These optimistic forecasts make rather painful reading.

Ch5 Be kind to yourself. When Jesus said to love your neighbor as yourself, it presupposes love for self. Some of us treat our neighbor nicer than we treat ourselves.

Nothing is wrong with this book, but I am not into it. My main takeaway is that I need to start writing self help books. I too can write whole chapters that could be memes.

Chapter 2: Practice “benevolent detachment”. As a kindness to yourself give all your stuff to God. How? Say, “God, I give this to you.” If you’re still thinking about it, say it again, ad nauseam. There were more horses.

I hate this book.

So much ADHD. So gimmicky. But I love the history so I keep picking it up

I’m not loving this, but I feel committed. If he says WEIRDER, one more time, I might throw it.
