okay well i hope fumiko and goro can make it work and have a great life together or whatever but that was SO underwhelming

i'm enjoying this but i kind of don't care about the "getting the bosses back together" plot and i wish russell and ari had a different reason to join forces. but rachel lynn solomon's books are so pleasant and easy to read dialogue-wise i'm entirely put off by the kind of meh storyline

this book has been so cute so far and i’m terrified because the ratings are suspiciously low for such a good starting off point. i mean it’s not actually suspicious, but i refuse to read reviews until i finish the book lol

i guess i'm just old now but this book is crass. and like...gross. i think grace is supposed a funny, quirky girl, but her brand of "funny and quirky" right now is like amy schumer or rachel hollis where it's a lot of gross-out gags/potty humor??? i'm not a total prude but there's literally not a single person (fictional or otherwise) whose bodily functions i want to hear about this often (or at all, really)

it's not grabbing my attention so far but there's a patron that just picked up the physical copy and i'd like to be able to discuss it with her...we're powering through!

so far, our romantic leads are completely insufferable on their own. i don’t like either of them. great!

of course he’s attending her contest in disguise! i can’t tell what’s just a trope of the genre and what’s just a coincidental parallel to books i’ve already read. but it’s giving the boyfriend candidate!

i’ll make a few predictions since this “big, self-flagellating gesture” is apparently formulaic of contemporary romances. marcus is going to reveal either a) he doesn’t like the writing in the show b) he’s actually more intelligent and well-spoken/he has dyslexia c) he’s in love with april and he made a mistake and that’s why they’re not together, not because of her looks d) he writes fanfiction lol

i’m not even crying because this dude should’ve said something months (or a month??? how long has it been actually??) ago and it’s stupid that this is even happening. no one on the face of the earth likes a third act breakup. no one. i’m convinced it’s a life hack invented by writers to avoid having to write real plot points. or maybe hit a word count. i don’t know but i’m so over it 🥱🤢

i like them together! i can't believe i'm halfway done with this book. my heart is totally invested but my anxiety is just waiting for the other shoe to drop when marcus eventually tells her the whole truth. and i can only hope she doesn't find out on her own...
