of course he’s attending her contest in disguise! i can’t tell what’s just a trope of the genre and what’s just a coincidental parallel to books i’ve already read. but it’s giving the boyfriend candidate!

i’ll make a few predictions since this “big, self-flagellating gesture” is apparently formulaic of contemporary romances. marcus is going to reveal either a) he doesn’t like the writing in the show b) he’s actually more intelligent and well-spoken/he has dyslexia c) he’s in love with april and he made a mistake and that’s why they’re not together, not because of her looks d) he writes fanfiction lol

i’m not even crying because this dude should’ve said something months (or a month??? how long has it been actually??) ago and it’s stupid that this is even happening. no one on the face of the earth likes a third act breakup. no one. i’m convinced it’s a life hack invented by writers to avoid having to write real plot points. or maybe hit a word count. i don’t know but i’m so over it 🥱🤢

i like them together! i can't believe i'm halfway done with this book. my heart is totally invested but my anxiety is just waiting for the other shoe to drop when marcus eventually tells her the whole truth. and i can only hope she doesn't find out on her own...
