Just like the first book, the final battle scene is going on way too long. Maintaining this intensity is impossible. I no longer care whether or not everyone lives or dies, I just want this to be over.

I don't mind when the author withholds information that can be obvious and allows us to use our brains to figure it out. However I don't appreciate the way this author refers to information as if they've already given it to us and makes this assumption. Some of this information isn't obvious. It feels like an editor hacked at this book sometimes

Don't get me wrong, I really do like this book series. With that said, I wish the author would dedicate more words to investigating grace's questions about the various supernatural species she encounters and herself and fewer words to the setting, the walls, the floor and general description of the space and repeating previously stated feelings and observations.

The fight scenes drag on too long. This book is longer than it needs to be. It gave me lots of time to figure out what was going to happen so nothing is surprising at this point.

Into chapter 11. I'm so annoyed. It's a lot like the Next Mrs. Parish but not as good.

I wish these books were written better. The Mercy series is much better. Also be aware that this narrator does a lot of voices and some of them are difficult to understand.

This book, like the last one, is more a compilation of stories about various characters loosely tied together by a thin plot. Currently I've been in one story for so long that I'm not sure what the main plot of the book is at the moment. I understand the desire to publish the shorts that add to the universe the author created. I'm just not sure this is the best way to do it.

Chapter 9 I don't like the Adam chapters. They are difficult to follow and not as much fun to read. I prefer from Mercys point of view written in first person

I have not enjoyed reading this book. I know violence to children happens and I will fight against anyone harming a child. I do not like reading about it. This is self inflicted torture and I would have abandoned this book long ago if it weren't for a book club I'm leading. I'm pleased to say the book has finally taken a turn and isn't making me want to vomit right now.

I don't like reading books with violence to children. This one is especially rough being historical fiction.

I loathe books that do this. I know more than the characters so I have to painfully read/wade through the book as they dole out information slowly. I'm hoping I'm wrong. Maybe something will happen. This is the third book like this for me in as many months. I'm only continuing to read because it's for book club.

Just started chapter 5. Seriously slow book. I like this author so I had high hopes. Dashed. I just don't care what happens. It's taking too long to setup the book premise.

I still really don't like this writing style. I think the plot line might be good and the writing is technically good too. I don't like the style she's employed of constantly referring to something she will know in the future. It's getting tiresome and it's already very confusing. Not worth the headache.

I don't like the writing style so far. It's like experiencing literature whiplash. Back-and-forth and back-and-forth. I'm having a hard time following the plot. I've already started over twice

First, it really sucks that you can't get this book as an audio download in Libby and only on Audible. Second, it's like there was a giant time jump from the last book to this one. I keep checking to see if I skipped a book. Weird.

Interesting enough but it's dragging now. It doesn't feel like it's going to have a climactic moment. More of an anticlimactic moment of relief.

It's How to Train Your Dragon meets Divergent meets the Hunger Games with an Avatar element. Are you sure this isn't a YA book?

I really wanted to like this book. I keep looking for "the book before this one" just to make sense of it. And the audio narrators are really putting their all into it but Joe Arden is out shining Lucy Rivers and she's difficult to hear in contrast to him. The plot is flat. I'm all for gratuitous but I need more from a book than shock.

I've grown tired of books with this many main characters. The temptation to take notes just to keep everything straight is great. I've decided I'm not going to keep track and I'm just going to ride the roller coaster that is this book and if I figured it out I figured it out and if I get the characters confused so be it

So many unnecessary words. An overabundance of description. I get setting the scene but this is just filler prolonging the story and delaying the plot. I can see why they made it a tv show. The writing style is too artistic for me.
