Its cute.
Its not listed as YA, but its YA.
I am currently sick, so its hitting just fine.
The narrator is animated... definitely makes the characters feel more cartoonish. The dialogue is definitely cheesy, bordering on eyeroll. ... but if I remember that its YA (which its not, but it is) then its not so bad.

a more apt name might be "the secret life of one bat researcher: complete with cool stories and bat facts" but it's still enjoyable.
I listened to a podcast recently about the super immune systems bats have and I hope to learn more.
I think the author's goal is to let everyone know how amazing bats are, which is great AND I want to know about the ones that carry coronavirus and ebola. I doubt it'll be discussed

Im excited for this one.

I was recently thinking back on this and wondered if there were any books out that specifically called out the empire / capitalism.

This is a great book to follow up The Hot Zone... as it even talks about what that book exaggerated.

These viruses are intense!

*This book is an updated excerpt from the author's book Spillover... updated to 2014.

So after I finish this, I just need to look up the latest news on Ebola within the last ten years.

What parts aren't riveting are extremely skimmable.

This book is giving me tension and anxiety even when not reading... and rightfully so. These are gut wrenching true stories of people failed and abused by this money making monstrosity of landlords and greed.

I think I needed this simple yet odd listen right now.
It's keeping my attention... sort of.

Placebo effects are real (we know) and you don't have to trick the person to get the benefits... and there's the opposite side too.

Hoping the book taps into new (to me) science soon, but it's a pleasant reminder regardless.

Umm... couldn't rin just hand her sister a note to warn her? This seems quite dramatic and unnecessary

I would be shocked if this book turns out to be less than 4 stars for me. It's such a little gem so far.
