honestly compelling plot so far and I don’t want to immediately be a hater but it’s getting to me the way this book delivers its story I just don’t like the style and I feel like I see it so often

they’re supposed to be speaking french, but the anglo-isms….

[dora forgets the suitcase] dora couldn’t possibly be stupid paul is just mean [dora forgets the suitcase AGAIN] she couldn’t possibly

I’ve seen enough. [eric adams voice] this is the bengali harlem of 2026

What I’d give for a Radical Republican these days…

Edit: make that the role of church AND military!

A lot of thoughts on the mind, starting with: how central American citizenship is to the struggle (in opposition to colonization/deportation), the narrative of a global democracy, the power of a visual document - photo, drawing or otherwise, the importance of the military, what it took to intertwine emancipation with the war effort, & a separate fight for equal protection/dignity under the law + land reparations

I guess what I will say is that you get so used to the horrible things that are embedded in this world and see art grow increasingly abstract while depicting that violence and you just sort of forget that evil is sometimes not abstract at all. I need a drink…..and somehow this makes me hate Emerald Fennell even more

1. I HAVE TO READ THE ELENA FERRANTE NOVELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2. Every time a new piece of writing or storytelling has referred to the self through the lens of the other this past year my head starts ringing girl I need to write this down

rip trick mirror you would have loved flesh world

this has honestly been on my list since it came out and i just love the way tolentino writes

yeah I don’t think I can finish this book

HEATHCLIFF SUCKS!!!!

also wow girl everyone sucks here

I know that I’m a grown adult and I can’t pretend like there are not women in this world who are coerced into making decisions against their better interests for the sake of male partners but oh my GOD isabella! the stupidity! I can’t blame her for heathcliff keeping her captive in the house but I can certainly blame her for everything else

oh to be nelly dean and a witness to so much chisme!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“Good night — I’m an angel!”

I used to think that “heathcliff isn’t white” was a refrain in the style of “katniss had olive skin” but no omg these characters are throwing the full book of racial slurs at this boy. i can’t believe the next adaptation is so boldly whitewashing him like this it’s shameful

this family tree is indecipherable

or so they say

I would never compare real historical events to Andor BUT as I’m reading about this conglomerate of groups in power during the civil war I think about how Tony Gilroy said that his show is not a 1:1 leftist politic since everyone is in agreement that they have to fight a fascist government but no one agrees on what should happen after

This question on the war and the revolution being inseparable makes me hmmmm
