I’m desperate to see how this trilogy ends, but holy hell, this is a slog. I’ve only managed just under 100 pages in a week of reading it. I’m not actually sure if it’s worth finishing at this point. Just so convoluted.

Definitely worth reading alongside “The Hounding”

Oof. That first chapter was GRIM.

“The crowd, jammed into the hot little room, shook like a centipede on its back.”

Ok, the gall of Polly Nichols’ estranged husband “forgiving” her in death is really something. He’s the reason she’s lying in a mortuary! Infuriating.
