I’m having a horrible time. I love it.

I’ve lost my copy! On pause

yet another novel I wish I was reading in a class just so we could discuss it to death and then I could write a paper about it

So far so good. The pages are weirdly thick which I do not enjoy. The margins are also wide, and the font+size makes me feel like I'm reading a Magic Treehouse book.

I gotta pause this one. It's just so damn long.

I also love the short vignette Ellmann started the novel with. It was beautifully written-- albeit a page and a half long-- and it really just showed that Ellman is an extremely good writer. She did not choose stream of consciousness bc she couldn't write a normal book-- she chose it because she could and is talented enough to pull it off.

I usually never update my pages but already it is deeply deeply unsettling in the best possible way. Atmospheric and unnerving. Love the way Saramago writes with these almost jarringly long sentences.

I was like halfway through and I’ve literally lost the book. And I’m annoyed because I was at a good point too. Out of spite this is gonna sit in my currently reading shelf until I find it.
