Oh no...already almost a third of the way and loving it. It reminds me of the first book in many ways: all the crazy game theory and the terrible beauty of longing and regret he depicts in scenes like Isadore and his Remade father in the Quiet.

Marjorie is 33% done with The Infatuations

I'm already torn about this book. At times it feels like Marias-lite, but I don't know if I am being influenced by the critical views I tried to avoid but didn't or if I feel like the narrative voice is not quite right. Like Mieville, though, Marias has nothing to prove; he has written several brilliant novels and doesn't have to knock it out of the park with this one.
