I am already engrossed in this family saga.

Having just finished The House of the Spirits it was nice to pick back up in Allende’s Chile. It’s interesting how Allende can create characters who sometimes have similar backgrounds and experiences, but be completely new people. I keep thinking I’ll be board with her stories, but I haven’t been yet.

I know it seems ridiculous to say, because it should be evident, John Steinbeck was an incredible writer. I read Of Mice and Men in high school and I did not appreciate Steinbeck then.

I cannot stop talking to everyone I know about this book. I wish there was a follow up book that tells the story of the creation of this book.

So far this is a wild book.

I don’t think I can read this before bed, but I kind of want to. 😬
