Angela is starting Not a Very Good Murderer
I don’t know if I can even finish this. It is eight “episodes” long, more like a podcast than a book, and I’m in episode 2. I don’t think I can take 3+ more hours of this obnoxious, selfish narcissist. I don’t know how the author tolerated her.

A 48 hour long audiobook. This should get me through a few commutes and some housework! It’s a library book, so I’ll have to push a little to be sure I finish before it’s due!

I started this book once before and put it down because the rampant racism turned my stomach. I determined that I can’t just look away from the ugly parts of our history, especially in our current political climate, and am giving it another try. As horrific as it’s been thus far, there are glimpses of humor coming through.

My son recommended this author and series. It has been a slow starter, as the author carefully builds the world, the history, the faith systems, and the magic. This has much more depth and plot than a lot of the popular “Romantasy” books, which is great! The focus is actually character development, plot-building, and intrigue, rather than exaggerated fairy sex.

Two chapters in, and I’m not sure I can stand this as an audiobook. The female narrator is fine, but the guy is so over-the-top smarmy that I’m not sure I can stomach it. It’s a book club pick, and I believe my first by Yaros, but so far I’m not impressed. Sounds like a cookie-cutter Hallmark plot thus far.

Very reminiscent of All the Colors of the Dark. Another solid, heartbreaking story of kids who have to face more than anyone should have to bear. I appreciate that the author doesn’t infantilize the young characters. They are tough and gritty and protective of each other.

I need a palate cleanser after the last book I read. I loved All The Colors of the Dark, so I’m hoping the author will work the same magic with this story.
