Johnny’s sections are always so overwritten yet still interesting. He does to Zampanó’s writing what Zampanó does to the Navidson Record, instead it’s more subjective than objective. Maybe ??

Is the real truth bomb supposed to be that life itself is a like reading this book?? Like our life is just a series of compounding context ?? If we wrote down our life we would essentially flood
it with a Russian-doll’s worth of footnotes, right? Also the academic satire that I knew this book was aiming for prior to reading it.

More funny ridiculousness. Karen and her friend build some bookshelves in a brief moment in the documentary. This leads to a forty page essay written by an academic about the “political posture” of the two women involved. Then further essays by other academics. Why must very simple things become intense discourse lol

So why edit the manuscript? Projecting his own problems on to the page? Turn us into a paranoid audience? Then a page later the text simply says “heater” without the “water” qualifier like Johnny’s winking at us. He hasn’t messed with the text this time yet he essentially has yet again. His meddling brings that innocuous detail meaning it wouldn’t have otherwise.

I think it’s meant to be absurd / funny whenever a small moment in the documentary evidently spawned an entire academic paper / article, a seemingly tedious academic exercise. And Zampanó’s language is incredibly precise.

Chapter 5 proved to be a deeper history of federal UFO study that lent to the book’s goal to discuss the anti-UFO “mindset.” Essentially arguing that public facing studies were set up to fail or steer the public to a certain conclusion while more secretive projects took place. Thanks to these public studies that lacked interesting conclusions, these private ones did not need to publicly share their findings.

Alien Agenda #4: The government totally knew about UFOs and their extraterrestrial origins, even assembling top-secret task forces to investigate wreckage and bodies. They of course engaged in disinformation campaigns to muddy the waters and make UFO-talk as academically and scientifically taboo as it is today. The amount of forgeries mentioned in this chapter … 😭

Even Marrs didn’t want to tap into the insinuation that EBE (an alien that blabbed to the Defense Department after he crashed here) made, wherein Jesus was an alien plant on Earth 😭😭😭😭

Chapter 3 doesn’t say much about the alien agenda, but merely reports how World War II intersects with UFO lore. The only “agenda” I can report on here is one theory that exiled Nazis controlled highly advanced technology that was close to deployment by the end of the war … but to what end? Not super interesting, tbh

Don’t hate but I in some ways respect academic shitposters because they exploit holes in knowledge that force the “establishment” of the field to search for stronger, more definitive evidence out of spite. That being said, every time Graham Hancock is mentioned I sigh.

Alien Agenda #2.1: Aliens (whoever they are) have been visiting Earth for tens of thousands of years, if not millions of years, leaving behind evidence, whether that be in what we construe as myths, or in the form of seemingly anachronistic technology imbuing humans with knowledge unobtainable at the time. This section is a little more contradictory and lacking in cohesion.

Alien Agenda #1: Create an artificial satellite that could pass as a naturally-formed rock (The Moon) to use as a base of operations for human surveillance(?). The sudden end to the Apollo Program was these beings essentially telling us to get off their expensive equipment. Also Apollo 13 was, as the speculation goes, purposefully sabotaged to show these beings' resolve on the matter. Okay!

Marrs now sets up that the Moon was hollowed out by Aliens, covered in rocks for shielding purposes, and then moved manually and precisely into orbit around the Earth. Yet, the surface also contains structures to potentially alert us to an intelligent motive / presence? So was the Moon built to be moved and then cities built on top and abandoned? He’s throwing shit at the walls, guys … stay tuned

There’s the term UFO literally (a flying object with origins, motives, construction unknown), and then the term UFO culturally (aliens). Marrs is burying what appears to be his use of the literal about the Moon. He’s arguing the peculiarities of the Moon and the lack of consensus. The moon itself is an unidentifiable object.

Furthermore I’m two big boy pages in but it’s like he’s not even saying the Moon is a UFO. But he is saying none of you dummies can bring out facts to refute this claim, really, can you? Yeah, you rely on the “establishment” for your facts but do you even know reallyyyyyy??? I’m blabbing

I always use this word wrong but whatever Marrs' first chapter is honestly so camppppp. This book is saying screw it we all know aliens are real and here are their motives and also everyone thinks UFOology is stupid which is why my first topic to acclimate ourselves to this serious area of study is about how the Moon is a UFO ... Marrs I am fond of u.

So Marrs says this book is going to discuss what the agenda of these aliens are, yet ALSO says this book is mainly about becoming skeptical of establishment narratives. Kind of seems like an odd framing. Sort of taking our acceptance of alien existence as granted while knowing that most of us find it as laughable as "the government wants us to" ...
