The theoretical physicist and mathematician Frank Wilczek believed that we probably have one billion separate thoughts during the course of our lives.

Immediate reaction: "that doesn't seem like very many--" *realizes I am in fact reading a book on ADHD* "--ohhh dear."

Social care turned up for the first time to help my dad look after my mum two days after she died. They stayed for a while to dismantle the bed she died in.

'What's up?" asked the Dentist.
In reply the man opened his mouth, and the Dentist peeked into it. He instantly recoiled, saying: 'What the fuck!' which must have been the shortest possible assessment of the state of the patient's dentition.

... it is amazing how deeply weird one can be about neurodivergency, in so very few words.

I am going to give the benefit of the doubt, assume it's the character being yikes rather than the author, aaand sweep that paragraph right under the rug.

the second chapter is entitled "Testosterone Autism". I am... somewhat concerned about where this is going.

he's switched to calling opera boyfriend by his first naaaaame aaaahhhh

(I did not ship these two reading the first one, and now I'm giddy over them)
(I may have been reading too much anime fanfic, it has me a bit hyperaware of the "first-name-terms = absolute pinnacle of romance" trope)

also minor correction this edition has 330 pages rather than 320 lol

Legends & Lattes wasn't as good on reread, but I'm enjoying this one a lot more. We've just met Satchel, who is lovely.
I've forgotten whether this sword is Blackblood or if Viv getting real attached to the thing real fast means it's a One-Ring-type cursed object.

I want to pat Robin on his oblivious little head sometimes. "How can someone as clever as you be so stupid" and such.

Minor nitpick, but the recurrence of the phrase "kid brother" is getting to me a bit. Fairly sure that's a modern Americanism, rather than something a late-Georgian / Victorian Englishman would use. At least, I've never heard "kid sibling" in modern UK vernacular.

I have bookclub for this on Sundayyyy... I am *never* gonna finish it 😩

it's kind of an odd experience, rereading this but barely recalling anything from the first time round - I'm never sure whether I'm constructing a theory about where the plot is going or remembering what actually happens. At the moment I'm suspecting that everybody in the cohort is Hermes but none of them know the others are.

"What happened?" "The British, keep up" is one of those lines that teeters on the edge of being *too* on-the-nose, but... mostly because it's truthful. Trying not to be the metaphorical hit dog that hollers, as a Scot - we were absolutely complicit in the Empire and its atrocities, even while ourselves being regarded as inferior to / by the English.
